Anyone seeking help or worried about someone
Need Help Now? Support Options in India
Find emergency assistance, substance-use guidance and support options in India.
If someone may be in immediate danger
Call 112, India's emergency response number, if someone is unconscious, having difficulty breathing, having a seizure, or appears in immediate medical danger. Stay with the person if it is safe to do so and follow the emergency operator's guidance. Do not delay urgent medical assistance to use a website form.
If you want help with substance use
Call 14446, the Government of India's national drug de-addiction and counselling helpline, for information and referral support. The specific services and opening arrangements should be confirmed before making additional claims about availability.
You can also seek an appointment with a qualified doctor or an appropriately staffed addiction-treatment service. If you are worried about alcohol dependence, consult a professional before suddenly stopping: severe withdrawal can be dangerous.
If you are helping a friend or family member
Speak calmly. Ask whether the person feels safe and would like help making contact with a professional. Don't threaten, shame or demand a confession. When urgent danger is present, contact emergency services.
